Salary: $18/hr

Hours: Monday through Friday. 7:30am-4pm. Must be flexible

Dress code: Pants or jeans, appropriate t-shirt, no jewelry, nothing offensive, no holes/rips/tears, and steel toed shoes.

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities

  • Machine Operation: Set up, calibrate, and operate hydraulic or mechanical power shears to cut material.
  • Material Preparation: Read blueprints, work orders, or cutting lists to determine, measure, and mark dimensions.
  • Quality Inspection: Use precision tools (tape measures, micrometers, calipers, gauges) to verify dimensions and check for defects.
  • Efficiency: Analyze materials to optimize cutting patterns and reduce scrap.
  • Maintenance: Perform daily maintenance, troubleshooting, and cleaning of machinery to ensure safe operation.
  • Logistics & Safety: Organize raw materials and finished products, often using forklifts or overhead cranes. 

Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience: Previous factory or machinery operating experience (specifically metal shearing, lasers, or saws) is typically required.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to read blueprints and strong mathematical skills.
  • Physical Demands: Capability to lift heavy materials (often up to 50 lbs), stand for long periods, and work in industrial environments.
  • Safety Oriented: Familiarity with OSHA safety standards for industrial machinery. 

Common Working Conditions

  • Fast-paced manufacturing or steel fabrication environments.
  • Exposure to noise, dust, and temperature variations.
