Express Employment Professionals is hiring a Service Department Coordinator on behalf of our client, a well-established, locally owned equipment repair company in Halifax, NS.
This is a hands-on, customer-facing role in a small business environment where you’ll play a key part in keeping the service department running smoothly day to day. You’ll be the first point of contact for customers and the central link between customers and technicians, helping coordinate repairs from intake to completion.
This role is ideal for someone who is organized, customer-focused, and enjoys a mix of administrative work and hands-on tasks. If you like staying busy, working with people, and being part of a close-knit team, this could be a great fit.
What you’ll be doing:
- Greet customers and assist them at the service counter in a professional and friendly manner
- Receive customer equipment for repair and document customer and equipment information accurately
- Create and manage work orders in the system, ensuring all details are complete and up to date
- Coordinate workflow between customers and technicians to help ensure timely completion of repairs
- Communicate with customers regarding repair updates, parts availability, and equipment pick-up
- Answer incoming phone calls and respond to customer inquiries via phone and email
- Process point-of-sale transactions and service-related paperwork
- Maintain organized records and inventory tracking for equipment in the shop
- Assist customers with bringing equipment into the shop when needed (hands-on support required)
- Support the overall day-to-day operations of a busy service department
What we’re looking for:
- Previous experience in customer service, administration, or a coordinator role is an asset
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks at once
- Excellent communication skills and a professional, friendly approach with customers
- Comfortable working on your feet and assisting with lifting equipment (up to approximately 25 lbs)
- Detail-oriented and able to keep accurate records and documentation
- Flexible and willing to take on a variety of responsibilities in a small business environment
- Mechanically inclined or interested in small engines, equipment, or hands-on work is an asset
- Experience in environments such as hardware stores, equipment rental companies, car dealerships, garden centres, or similar industries is considered an asset

- Full-time, 40 hours per week
- Monday to Friday from 8 am – 4 pm
- Occasional Saturdays from 9 am – 12 pm
