Position Summary

The CNC Machinist is responsible for setup and operation of CNC lathes and machining centers, ensuring parts are produced to strict quality standards. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to perform multiple setups per shift, and confidence working with machine controls and inspection tools.

Key Responsibilities

Setup & Operation

• Perform 1–5 machine setups per day on CNC lathes or machining centers
• Operate vertical and horizontal CNC equipment in a production environment
• Adjust tooling, offsets, and fixturing to meet production requirements

Programming & Machine Adjustments

• Make edits at the machine control to adjust speeds, feeds, and tool paths
• Optimize machining processes for efficiency and quality

Inspection & Quality

• Perform first-piece and in-process inspections
• Use micrometers, calipers, and gauges to verify tolerances
• Ensure all parts meet customer and engineering specifications

Tooling & Production Support

• Monitor tool wear and perform tool changes as needed
• Maintain part consistency throughout production runs
• Complete production logs and quality documentation accurately

Qualifications

Required

• 2–5+ years of CNC machining experience (setup & operation)
• Experience with Okuma turning centers and controls
• Strong blueprint reading skills
• Solid understanding of shop math (decimals, geometry)

Preferred

• Experience with manual machining (Bridgeport mills, manual lathes)
• Strong attention to detail and quality mindset
• Ability to work independently in a production environment
