Sales & Design Consultant

Job Type: Full-Time
Compensation: Base pay plus commission (dependent on experience)

Position Overview

The Sales & Design Consultant is responsible for guiding customers through the selection and purchase of cabinetry, countertops, and related interior products for residential remodel and new construction projects. This role blends consultative sales, product knowledge, and customer relationship management, primarily within a showroom setting while supporting projects from initial inquiry through completion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Consult with homeowners, builders, and contractors to assess project needs, design preferences, budgets, and timelines
  • Present and sell cabinetry, countertops, flooring, and related products using a consultative sales approach
  • Prepare accurate estimates, quotes, and sales orders
  • Coordinate with internal teams, vendors, and installers to ensure smooth project execution
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail
  • Conduct showroom appointments, product demonstrations, and follow-up communications
  • Build and maintain long-term customer and trade-partner relationships
  • Track leads, opportunities, and project status using internal systems or CRM tools
  • Meet or exceed individual sales goals
  • Stay current on product offerings, materials, and interior design trends

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of sales experience (home improvement, construction, cabinetry, or design-related sales preferred)
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
  • Ability to work in a consultative, project-based sales environment
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Comfortable managing overlapping projects and deadlines
  • Basic computer proficiency (email, CRM systems, estimating or design software)
  • Willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends to accommodate customer schedules
  • Valid driver’s license for local travel when needed

Preferred Experience

  • Experience selling cabinetry, kitchen, bath, or interior finish products
  • Background working with builders, contractors, remodelers, or designers
  • Familiarity with estimating, layout review, or design coordination processes
