CNC Lathe Machine Operator – Machine Shop

Location: Springfield, OH
Pay: $18.00/hour
Schedule: 1st Shift – 6:00 AM to 3:30 PM

Job Overview

We are hiring an experienced CNC Lathe Machine Operator for a local machine shop. This position requires someone confident operating very large industrial lathes and capable of handling both machine operation and setup responsibilities.

The ideal candidate is mechanically skilled, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced machining environment with tight tolerances.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate large CNC lathe machines for production
• Perform setups and programming for shop lathes
• Run machines efficiently when not performing setups
• Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
• Calculate dimensions, tolerances, and measurements for production
• Use dial calipers, micrometers, and monitoring tools accurately
• Inspect parts to ensure quality and compliance with specifications
• Maintain consistent production and meet output goals
• Follow all safety and shop procedures

Requirements

• Experience operating CNC lathes, including large-scale machines
• Proficiency in lathe programming and setup
• Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings
• Strong math skills with the ability to calculate dimensions and tolerances
• Experience using precision measuring instruments (calipers, gauges, etc.)
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the shift
• Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs without assistance
• Comfortable working around large equipment and machinery
