Basic Scope/Purpose: (The job’s primary purpose or contribution to the department or organization.)
Lab Technician will perform laboratory testing duties required to support R&D, manufacturing operations, formulation and product development and material testing. The technician will perform lab testing and possibly assist in plant trials to support projects assigned. The technician will work with chemical and mechanical equipment during performance of these duties.

Lab Technician I
• Perform laboratory tests and experiments as directed by your supervisor (e.g. NCO, Mix Cure, mechanical, thermal, and other necessary tests).
• Perform testing of chemical properties and physical properties to assist different departments in developing new or existing products and evaluating alternative raw materials or processes.
• Enter data into the LIMS (Lab Information Management System)
• Assist in evaluating new and current raw materials or processes.
• Ability to use various measuring instruments (e.g. micrometers, calipers, etc.).
• Assist / perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting and calibration tests on lab test equipment. • Have basic knowledge of polymer materials and compounds. • Follow ASTM test methods and SOP procedures.
• Assist to resolve manufacturing and quality issues as needed.
• Design basic test fixtures for use in product testing.
• Operate computer-controlled test equipment and review data with the training from lab staffs.
• Operate in accordance with ISO procedures.
• Expected to be proficient in all lab equipment.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Relative Experience: (The level of education and/or experience needed to successfully accomplish the essential duties of this job.)
• High school diploma or general education degree(GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must have general knowledge of standard lab practices.
• Excellent record keeping and reporting
• Strong attention to detail, ability to organize job priorities and effectively manage multiple projects.
• Good problem solving and analytical skills, mechanical aptitude and ability.
• Must have good verbal/written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills
