We are seeking a highly skilled Welding Quality Technician for our Metal Shop to ensure the highest standards of quality and compliance in welding processes. This role is essential in maintaining the integrity of welded components, adhering to strict industry regulations, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in quality assurance, welding inspection, and manufacturing standards, contributing to the delivery of superior products that meet both customer specifications and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive quality inspections of welded assemblies using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and vision inspection systems to verify dimensional accuracy and weld integrity.
  • Perform detailed visual and non-destructive testing (NDT) assessments on welds to identify defects, discontinuities, or deviations from specified standards.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards including ISO 13485 (medical devices), FDA regulations, ISO 9001, and HACCP protocols where applicable.
  • Utilize calibration tools and coordinate measuring machines (CMM) to gather precise data for quality analysis and reporting.
  • Lead quality audits and participate in internal and external assessments to verify adherence to quality management systems (QMS) and regulatory requirements.
  • Document inspection results accurately, analyze data trends, and communicate findings effectively to production teams for corrective actions.
  • Support manufacturing teams by providing guidance on welding procedures, quality control measures, and process improvements aligned with CGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Practice) standards.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining quality systems related to QA/QC processes within the metal shop environment.

Skills

  • Proficiency with Calypso software for data collection and analysis related to welding quality metrics.
  • Strong understanding of ISO 13485, FDA regulations, ISO 9001, HACCP, CGMP, and other relevant industry standards.
  • Experience operating coordinate measuring machines (CMM), vision inspection systems, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments.
  • Knowledge of welding techniques, materials, and associated quality control procedures.
  • Ability to perform thorough quality audits and analyze inspection data effectively.
  • Excellent attention to detail combined with strong analytical skills for root cause analysis.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate across departments and document findings clearly.
