CNC Programmer/Set-up Machinist
Location: Guelph, ON
Schedule: Monday - Friday - 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Express Employment Professionals is recruiting for a CNC Programmer/Set-up Machinist on behalf of a well-established manufacturer in Guelph
Responsibilities
Programmer
- Collaborate with management and engineering on machining feasibility and processes
- Develop and optimize CNC programs for mills and lathes
- Create setup sheets and design fixtures
- Coordinate with tooling suppliers to select appropriate tools
- Use Mastercam to create solid models
- Design and support fixture production (in-house or outsourced)
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues with teams
- Improve efficiency (cycle time, setup, tooling performance)
- Ensure processes meet customer and specification requirements
- Manage technical data and documentation
Machinist
- Set up and operate CNC mills to produce precision parts from technical drawings
- Select and adjust tooling, fixtures, and machine settings for efficient production
- Inspect parts and make adjustments to ensure quality and accuracy
- Monitor machining processes and correct issues in real time
- Read technical drawings and use precision measuring tools
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and maintain machine calibration
- Follow safety and quality standards
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve efficiency and reduce downtime
- Maintain accurate production and quality documentation
- Perform basic machine maintenance
Qualifications:
- Prior hands-on experience as a Machinist
- Strong proficiency in Mastercam and SolidWorks
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, charts, quality documentation, and tolerance/surface finish specifications
- Strong understanding and practical application of GD&T principles
- Skilled in the use of precision measuring tools
- 5+ years of experience in complex CNC machine programming, supporting shop-floor machinists and operators
- Advanced knowledge of CNC programming for mills and/or lathes
