Monday through Friday – 6am to 3pm
$24hr to $35hr depending on experience.
A global leader in aerospace and defense electronics with facilities in Canada, the U.S., and China, specializing in designing and manufacturing high-reliability illuminated cockpit panels, keyboards, and electronic assemblies for flight and simulation applications is seeking a CNC Machinist to join their team in Chatsworth.
Summary: The Machinist will set up, operate, and maintain a variety of manual and CNC machining equipment to produce precision aerospace components in accordance with engineering specifications. This position plays a key role in ensuring that all parts meet strict quality, safety, and performance standards while maintaining efficient production in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate CNC and manual machines, including Bridgeport VMC 800, Excellon driller/router, HAAS VR2 High-Speed CNC, and HAAS table router.
- Perform program edits as needed; experience with Mastercam and AutoCAD is highly desirable.
- Apply knowledge of machine shop procedures, setup techniques, and production methods in an AS9100-certified environment.
- Perform First Article Inspections (FAI) and ensure compliance with required documentation.
- Select appropriate feeds, speeds, and tooling for machining materials such as acrylic, aluminum, fiberglass, and stainless steel.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T specifications, and inspection reports.
- Use precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges) to verify dimensions and tolerances.
- Ensure all products meet Aerospace and Military quality standards.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Production teams to troubleshoot and improve manufacturing processes.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Machinist in an aerospace or precision manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of G-Code required.
- Strong understanding of tight tolerances, surface finishes, and complex part geometry.
- Experienced with Heidenhain controllers. (required)
- Skilled in machining a range of materials including metals and composite substrates.
- Experience machining acrylic, polycarbonate, and other plastics.
- Demonstrated ability to manage workflows and prioritize tasks.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office. (Word, Excel, Outlook)
