Senior Accounting Specialist

Located in Round Rock, TX

Salary: $32.00 – $34.00/hour

We are seeking a Senior Accounting Specialist to join their finance team. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional who can support full-cycle accounting functions while ensuring accuracy across financial operations and collaborating with project teams and vendors.

This position offers the opportunity to take ownership of key accounting processes while contributing to broader financial operations, reporting, and process improvements.

 

Schedule: Monday – Thursday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM; Friday is a flexible schedule
Pay Rate: $32.00 – $34.00/hour to start with potential for future salary conversion

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Support day-to-day accounting operations across multiple functions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including preparation of journal entries and necessary adjustments
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including documentation and reporting support
• Manage and support accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely processing and discrepancy resolution
• Review and analyze project-related costs, including purchase orders and invoices, for proper coding and accuracy
• Perform account reconciliations, including bank and cash activity, to ensure accurate financial records
• Audit invoice pricing, tax calculations, and supporting documentation for compliance and accuracy
• Collaborate with Project Managers and vendors to resolve billing, pricing, and tax-related issues
• Generate and manage purchase orders within the accounting system (Great Plains or similar ERP)
• Maintain accurate and organized financial records within the accounting system
• Request, track, and verify Certificates of Insurance for vendor compliance
• Assist with financial reporting and provide insights by analyzing financial data and identifying discrepancies
• Support budgeting and forecasting activities by compiling and organizing financial data
• Assist with payroll processing and related reporting requirements as needed
• Support audit preparation and ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements
• Partner with internal teams to improve accounting processes and enhance operational efficiency

 

Qualifications:

• 3–5 years of experience in accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, or general ledger functions
• Some college coursework required; degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial workflows
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software systems
• Experience with Great Plains (GP) or similar ERP systems is a plus
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and with vendors
• Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
