Powder Coat Technician

Overview The Powder Coat Technician is responsible for powder painting and washing parts, along with supporting additional tasks within the paint department as needed. This role requires attention to detail, willingness to learn, and the ability to maintain consistent quality standards.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Learn and perform all steps of the powder‑coating process, developing a strong level of expertise.

  • Visually inspect parts before and after powder coating to ensure quality and accuracy.

  • Apply powder coat paint evenly and consistently, maintaining required thickness tolerances.

  • Maintain paint guns and related equipment; keep the work area clean and organized.

  • Rotate in and out of the paint booth to support cross‑training and maintain staffing flexibility.

  • Operate ovens and monitor temperatures and cycle times as needed.

  • Learn and perform the wash process, including pre‑ and post‑wash inspections.

  • Accept direction, coaching, and feedback from supervisors to ensure proper task execution.

  • Identify and report defective parts, materials, or questionable conditions to management.

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work environment in accordance with safety regulations.

  • Perform additional tasks as needed, including loading/unloading parts, plugging, masking, cleaning, monitoring quality, packaging parts, and routine maintenance within the paint department.

 

Qualifications

  • 0–2 years of experience.

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.

  • Experience with powder coating or liquid paint application is a plus but not required.

  • Ability to read and interpret work instructions, part drawings, and related documents.

 

Working Conditions

  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs and carry it up to 50 feet.

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.

  • Must be able to wear required PPE as determined by management.

  • Ability to work in varying temperature environments.

  • Availability for overtime, including Saturdays or extended hours.

Shift: Monday - Friday, 7AM - 3:30PM 

Pay: $17+/Hr DOE
