We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Manual Machinist to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will operate and set up manual machining equipment, including lathes, mills, and grinders, to produce precision metal and plastic components according to detailed specifications. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, proficiency with measurement tools, and the ability to interpret technical drawings and blueprints. The Manual Machinist will contribute to maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency in our production processes. Responsibilities

  • Operate manual machining equipment such as lathes, mills, grinders, and boring machines to produce precision parts.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and manufacturing specifications.
  • Set up machines accurately using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and other precision measuring instruments.
  • Perform CNC programming adjustments when necessary and assist in basic CNC setup procedures.
  • Use hand tools and tooling effectively to complete machining tasks while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Conduct inspections of machined parts utilizing coordinate measuring machines (CMM), dial indicators, and other measurement devices.
  • Maintain detailed records of work performed, including measurements, adjustments, and deviations.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams on prototype development, tooling modifications, or process improvements.
  • Support welding operations and assembly tasks as needed within the manufacturing process.
  • Follow lean manufacturing principles to optimize workflow efficiency and reduce waste.

Skills

  • Extensive experience with manual machining operations on CNC lathe and CNC milling machines using Fanuc controls or similar systems.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints, technical drawings, GD&T specifications, and CAD/CAM files created in SolidWorks or similar software.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge of materials such as metals and plastics used in injection molding applications.
  • Skilled in using precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators, and coordinate measuring machines.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations accurately for dimensioning and tolerances.
  • Familiarity with electrical discharge machining (EDM) techniques is a plus.
  • Knowledge of tooling selection, setup procedures, and tool wear management.
  • Experience with blueprint reading combined with hands-on experience in manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to operate power tools safely and efficiently; welding skills are advantageous.
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing practices aimed at continuous improvement.
  • Capable of working with hand tools, power tools, forklifts, and supporting plastics injection molding processes when required.
