Express Employment Professionals is seeking a Experienced Powder Coater to take ownership of the powder coating process within a stable, long-standing metal manufacturing facility in Logan, UT.
This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for running the coating line, maintaining quality standards, and guiding a small team to ensure consistent, high-quality finishes on fabricated metal products.
Possible Schedule and Salary:
Monday – Thursday | 6:00 am – 4:30 pm (4-day work week)
Starting wage: $17.00 – $24.00+ DOE (flexible for strong experience)
Responsibilities
- Perform powder coating of fabricated metal parts using manual and automated spray systems
- Set up and adjust spray guns, booths, reclaim systems, and curing ovens
- Manage full coating process: prep → coat → cure (timing, thickness, and finish quality)
- Lead powder changeovers, including full cleaning of hoppers and equipment
- Maintain wash bay systems, including chemical balance and pH levels
- Ensure all parts are properly prepped, masked, and protected (threads, surfaces, etc.)
- Inspect parts for quality and identify defects such as orange peel, fisheyes, or thin coverage
- Take ownership of final product quality before release to production
- Lead and support a small team (1–2 team members), assigning daily priorities
- Adjust workflow based on production needs and customer deadlines
- Operate forklift as needed to move materials and parts
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of powder coating equipment
- Maintain a clean, organized work area using 5S principles
- Follow all safety procedures including PPE, respirator use, and chemical handling
- Communicate effectively with production and management on job status and issues
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on finish quality and consistency
- Ability to troubleshoot coating defects and adjust process variables
- Understanding of powder coating systems, curing cycles, and application techniques
- Ability to work independently and take full ownership of a process
- Strong communication skills and ability to lead a small team
- Adaptable and able to adjust priorities in a production environment
- Mechanical aptitude with ability to maintain and clean equipment
- Ability to read and follow work orders, specifications, and production instructions
Qualifications & Requirements:
- 3–5+ years of powder coating or industrial finishing experience preferred
- Experience with powder coat changeovers and equipment cleaning
- Forklift experience preferred
- Ability to lift up to 50–100 lbs and work in a physically demanding environment
- Comfortable working in a heated industrial setting with powder and chemicals
- Must be dependable, consistent, and able to take ownership of responsibilities
