Full time – Temp to hire

Monday through Friday – 6am to 3pm

$19hr to $24hr depending on experience.

 

A leading global manufacturer of high-technology, high-reliability printed circuit boards, with over 35 years of experience, specialize in serving the aerospace and defense industries by delivering innovative solutions, cutting-edge manufacturing processes, and exceptional product life-cycle support is seeking a Solder Mask & Silkscreen Technician to join their team in Chatsworth.

 

Summary: The Solder Mask & Silkscreen Technician is responsible for applying, developing, and inspecting solder mask and legend (silkscreen) layers on printed circuit boards (PCBs) in a small-batch manufacturing environment. This role ensures product quality, consistency, and adherence to customer specifications through precise process control and attention to detail.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare PCB panels for solder mask and silkscreen application, including cleaning and surface preparation.
  • Apply solder mask (LPI) using screen printing and spray coating methods.
  • Apply silkscreen (legend/markings) using screen printing or direct legend printing equipment; occasionally applying silkscreen manually.
  • Operate and monitor UV exposure, curing, and developing equipment.
  • Develop and rinse panels to achieve proper mask and legend definition.
  • Inspect panels for defects such as misregistration, smudging, pinholes, incomplete coverage, or poor adhesion.
  • Perform touch-ups and rework on both solder mask and silkscreen layers as needed.
  • Read and interpret work orders, drawings, and customer specifications for both mask and legend requirements.
  • Maintain accurate production and inspection records.
  • Ensure proper handling and storage of inks, chemicals, and materials.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including PPE and chemical handling protocols.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of coating, printing, and exposure equipment.
  • Collaborate with imaging, plating, and final inspection teams to ensure workflow efficiency.

 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1+ year of PCB manufacturing experience. (solder mask, silkscreen, imaging, or related process)
  • Experience in a small-batch or high-mix environment is a plus.
  • Ability to read and follow technical instructions and process documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality control.
  • Basic computer skills for tracking production and documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with LPI solder mask and PCB legend printing.
  • Familiarity with IPC standards. (e.g., IPC-A-600)
  • Experience with UV exposure units, developers, and screen-printing equipment.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills for process or equipment issues.
