Metal Worker/Fabricator and Set Up

Location: North Haven, CT

Pay rate: $21-26/hr

Responsibilities:

  • Interpret detailed blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to ensure precise fabrication of metal components.
  • Set up and operate fabrication equipment, including press brakes, plasma cutters, and welding stations, in compliance with safety standards and project requirements.
  • Perform MIG and TIG welding to produce strong, consistent, and high-quality metal joints.
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, calipers, micrometers, and other precision instruments to verify parts meet exact dimensions and tolerances.
  • Maintain a clean, organized workspace while adhering to all safety protocols; safely operate forklifts and other equipment for material handling.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to troubleshoot fabrication issues and improve setup efficiency.
  • Follow mechanical drawings and schematics to accurately assemble complex metal structures.
  • Support production needs through plasma cutting, press brake forming, and additional fabrication processes as required.

Skills:

  • Proficient in MIG, TIG, and FCAW welding, along with plasma cutting techniques.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Experienced in using hand tools, power tools, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments.
  • Solid mathematical skills for accurate measurements and adherence to fabrication tolerances.
  • Knowledge of ASME codes and standards applicable to metal fabrication.
  • Familiarity with operating press brakes and machining equipment is a plus.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities in fast-paced production environments.
  • Motivated to contribute technical expertise while continuously developing skills and supporting high-quality, innovative fabrication work.
