JOB SUMMARY:
Performs line changeovers, tooling replacements and setups correctly in order to decrease in-line defects, including changing documents and gauges. Provides support to Production Dept. to troubleshoot machining issues. Performs rework and train others to assist. Maintains 5S of Set-Up and Changeover components. Conducts line-side training with goal to increase technical knowledge of production team members and leaders and their ability to respond to minor machine and process issues. Works closely with others and maintains a positive attitude toward teamwork, safety, and quality.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Maintains strong attendance; knows and follows Company policies as directed by the Employee Handbook, the Safety Rules and Regulations, and the Quality Manual.
2. Performs changeovers and setups correctly and promptly to minimize impact on production downtime. Work may be performed independently or as part of a team.
3. Ensures gages placed line-side are all present, functional and calibrated.
4. Improves the efficiency of changeover / setup; i.e., shortening the time necessary to complete.
5. Performs qualification for broaches in conjunction with QC Dept.
6. Monitors critical tool life to ensure full usage and periodic tool changes are performed correctly.
7. May assist Engineering Technician or Engineer during new tool trials.
8. Performs minor edits within established G-code programs, programming set points, and parameters.
9. Assists in identifying in-line process improvements and decreasing in-line process-related defective parts.
10. Assists Production by preparing tooling for anticipated tool changes.
11. Instructs Production Leaders to assist in changeovers. May train leveled-up operators to perform changeovers. Can do so in positive and patient manner and adjusts depth of technical explanation to the comprehension level of the individual.
12. Responds to calls for assistance from Production. Uses these opportunities to provide training.
13. Perform rework activities and train others to assist in rework.
14. Audits line-side documentation for accuracy and communicates feedback on Process Control Charts (PCC), Operation Sheets (OS), and Standard Operation Sheets (SOS).
15. Maintains open lines of communications between the Production Department and Engineering, Quality Control, and Management staff.
16. All other duties required of the job and requested by a member of the Management Team.
LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITY:
No supervisory responsibility over others. However, strong work ethics and high moral values are attributes sought after for this position and for higher-level positions within the department and the Company.
PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS:
Ability to remain stationary for 6 to 10 hours at a time; Ability to maneuver around the plant; repeatedly bend, squat, move both arms above the head, and move head straight up and down and side to side; Good hand strength with steady movement, good finger dexterity, repeatedly able to grasp small and large objects and rotate wrists, arms, and shoulders; Good eyesight, hearing, and speaking voice; and ability to lift at least 10 lbs.
