Passivation Technician

Job Summary:
The Passivation Technician is responsible for cleaning, treating, and passivating stainless steel parts to remove contaminants and improve corrosion resistance. This role ensures all components meet industry standards and quality specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform passivation processes on stainless steel and other metal components using chemical treatments (acid baths, rinsing, neutralizing).
• Prepare parts by cleaning, degreasing, and inspecting prior to passivation.
• Monitor chemical concentrations, temperatures, and processing times to ensure proper results.
• Safely handle and dispose of hazardous chemicals in accordance with OSHA and company guidelines.
• Conduct visual inspections and basic testing to verify corrosion resistance and surface quality.
• Maintain accurate records of batches, processes, and inspections.
• Operate and maintain tanks, pumps, and related processing equipment.
• Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of PPE (gloves, goggles, aprons, respirators as needed).
• Assist with troubleshooting process issues and improving workflow efficiency.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in passivation, metal finishing, or chemical processing preferred.
• Knowledge of stainless steel treatment and corrosion prevention is a plus.
• Ability to read work orders, blueprints, and process instructions.
• Comfortable working with chemicals and in a production environment.
• Strong attention to detail and quality control.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
