Additive Manufacturing Casting Engineer -Contract

Location: Loveland, OH

Compensation: $50-$65/hr

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field
• 3–8+ years of experience in investment casting tooling or mold design
• Strong knowledge of gating/riser design, solidification principles, and ceramic shell/core behavior
• Experience with Ni-based superalloys (e.g., IN718, MAR-M247, Rene alloys)
• Proficiency in CAD software (NX, SolidWorks) and PLM/PDM systems with BOM control
• Experience with casting simulation tools (e.g., MAGMA, ProCAST, Flow-3D)
• Hands-on experience with additive manufacturing in casting, preferably in aerospace/defense (AS9100 environment) and familiarity with DS/SX processes and automated production systems

Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and development of ceramic molds, cores, and gating systems for investment casting applications (EQ, DS, SX)
• Develop DFM/DFA strategies to improve yield, reduce defects, and enhance manufacturability
• Integrate additive manufacturing technologies (binder jet, SLA, DLP, wax printing) into mold and tooling workflows
• Utilize casting simulation tools (e.g., MAGMA, ProCAST) to validate designs and predict defects
• Collaborate with process and manufacturing teams to align mold design with pour strategy, thermal behavior, and production capabilities
• Troubleshoot casting defects such as shrinkage, porosity, hot tearing, and inclusions
• Support new product introduction (NPI) and drive rapid iteration through digital and additive workflows
