Shop Floor Organizer / Supervisor – Job Description (Direct Hire)

Overview:
We’re looking for a hands-on Shop Floor Organizer/Supervisor to lead our black iron fabrication team. In this role, you’ll oversee daily shop operations, keep production on schedule, and make sure safety and quality standards are consistently met. You’ll work closely with the team to improve workflow, interpret blueprints, and help develop employees through training and mentorship.
This is a great opportunity for someone who knows welding and fabrication inside and out, enjoys leading a team, and takes pride in running an efficient, organized shop.

 

Schedule & Pay:
• Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM – 4:00 PM
• 40–42 hours per week is typical
• Overtime paid at time and a half after 40 hours
• Competitive hourly wage: $30.50–$32.50, depending on experience
• Direct hire – you’re a day-one employee with full benefits
• No nights or weekends
• Early-out Fridays

What You’ll Do:
• Lead, train, and support shop employees and new hires
• Plan and coordinate daily production with the Plant Manager
• Ensure projects are completed on time and to specification
• Interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and technical documents
• Work with quality control to maintain standards and accuracy
• Monitor and enforce shop safety practices
• Manage inventory and order welding consumables as needed
• Coordinate with maintenance when equipment issues arise
• Conduct employee reviews and provide ongoing feedback
• Operate and oversee equipment such as saws, torches, ironworkers, hoists, cranes, and pallet jacks
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
• Step in wherever needed to keep operations running smoothly

 

What You Bring:
• Strong experience in welding and fabrication processes
• Solid leadership and problem-solving skills
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety
• Team-oriented mindset with good communication skills

 

Requirements:
• Ability to stand for extended periods (8+ hours), bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 lbs
• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
• Positive, professional attitude
• Commitment to safety and adherence to OSHA standards
• Reliable attendance
• Ability to pass pre-employment screening, including a drug screen

 

Preferred (Not Required):
• High school diploma or equivalent

 

 

Relevant Experience May Include:
Welding (MIG, TIG, Stick), fabrication, stainless steel, aluminum, mild steel, robotic welding, blueprint reading, shop equipment operation, and general weld shop experience.
