Role Overview

We are looking for a dedicated Custodian to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming learning environment for students and staff at a local school in Gautier. This role is essential to the daily operations of the campus, requiring someone who takes pride in their work and understands the importance of facility safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Daily Sanitation: Sweep, mop, and vacuum classrooms, hallways, and common areas. Thoroughly clean and disinfect restrooms and high-touch surfaces.

• Waste Management: Empty all trash and recycling bins, ensuring proper disposal and replacement of liners.

• Facility Safety: Keep walkways and entrances clear of debris. Report any maintenance issues, such as leaks or broken fixtures, to the supervisor immediately.

• Event Setup: Assist with moving furniture and setting up equipment for school assemblies, sporting events, or cafeteria needs.

• Security: Ensure windows and doors are properly secured at the end of shifts and follow school-specific safety protocols.

• Inventory: Monitor cleaning supplies and notify the office when restocks are needed.

Requirements

• Background Check: Must be able to pass a comprehensive criminal background check as required by state law for school employees.

• Physical Ability: Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and remain on your feet for the duration of the shift.

• Reliability: Strong attendance record and a professional, respectful demeanor suitable for a school setting.

• Experience: Previous janitorial or custodial experience is preferred, but we are willing to train candidates with a strong work ethic.
