Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic – Salvage Yard
Pay: $25.00 – $35.00 per hour (DOE)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM, with occasional Saturdays

 

Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Maintenance Mechanic to join our salvage yard team. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a variety of equipment and vehicles used in daily yard operations. The ideal candidate is hands-on, safety-focused, and experienced in working with heavy equipment in a fast-paced outdoor environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical issues on heavy equipment, trucks, and yard machinery
• Perform routine maintenance including oil changes, fluid checks, filter replacements, and preventative service
• Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems
• Maintain and repair equipment such as loaders, forklifts, crushers, and other salvage yard machinery
• Keep accurate maintenance records and report major repair needs
• Ensure all equipment is operating safely and efficiently
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety procedures
• Assist with general yard maintenance as needed

Required Skills & Experience

• Previous experience as a mechanic, preferably in heavy equipment, diesel, or industrial environments
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
• Knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems
• Ability to use hand and power tools effectively
• Ability to work in outdoor conditions and lift 50+ lbs
• Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a salvage yard, construction, or similar environment
• Welding and fabrication experience is a plus
• Certifications in diesel mechanics or related field
