Job Title: Journeyman Electrician

Company Overview

They operate one of the oldest continuous mining sites in the eastern United States, specializing in the production and distribution of high-quality agricultural, turf, and ornamental limestone. Their facility includes an open-pit quarry and a full-scale limestone processing plant dedicated to safety, efficiency, and environmental responsibility.

Position Summary

The Journeyman Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment across quarry and plant operations. This role ensures the safe and efficient operation of electrical components supporting crushing, conveying, and processing systems in a heavy industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities

Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, equipment, and components in compliance with applicable codes and safety standards
Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical issues in plant equipment, including crushers, conveyors, motors, and control systems
Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical systems to minimize downtime
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams
Work with PLCs, motor controls, VFDs, and industrial automation systems
Inspect electrical systems and identify hazards, defects, and necessary repairs
Ensure compliance with MSHA, OSHA, and company safety policies
Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to optimize plant performance
Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs
Respond to emergency breakdowns and perform timely repairs

Qualifications

Valid Journeyman Electrician license (state or equivalent)
Minimum 3–5 years of industrial electrical experience (mining, quarry, or heavy manufacturing preferred)
Strong knowledge of electrical systems, motor controls, and industrial equipment
Experience with PLC troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley or similar preferred)
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical manuals
Familiarity with MSHA regulations is a plus
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

Physical Requirements

Ability to work in outdoor environments, including exposure to dust, noise, and varying weather conditions
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks
Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb for extended periods

Work Environment

Open-pit quarry and industrial processing plant
Exposure to heavy machinery, moving equipment, and high-voltage systems
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required at all times
