About the Opportunity

We are seeking a Continuous Improvement Manager with a strong engineering foundation to support a high-volume, automated bakery manufacturing operation. Reporting to the Director of Continuous Improvement, this role will focus on optimizing production systems, improving line performance, and driving efficiency across automated processes.

This role is ideal for someone who understands how high-speed production lines actually behave—not just in theory, but on the floor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and optimize automated, high-volume production lines to improve throughput, efficiency, and product consistency
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on process engineering, automation, and line performance optimization
  • Partner with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to troubleshoot bottlenecks and implement sustainable solutions
  • Utilize data, KPIs, and real-time production metrics to identify inefficiencies and drive improvements
  • Lead root cause analysis on downtime, waste, and quality issues, and implement corrective actions
  • Support and enhance standard operating procedures (SOPs) and production standards
  • Facilitate training and knowledge transfer to build a culture of continuous improvement on the production floor
  • Maintain project documentation and ensure compliance with internal and regulatory requirements
  • Research and apply industry best practices, particularly within automated bakery / manufacturing environments

Qualifications & Experience

  • Engineering background required (Mechanical, Industrial, or related discipline strongly preferred)
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in continuous improvement, process engineering, or manufacturing engineering
  • Direct experience in automated, high-volume food manufacturing environments—preferably commercial bakery or similar
  • Strong understanding of production line automation, equipment efficiency, and process flow optimization
  • Hands-on experience with root cause analysis, Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally with Operations and Maintenance teams
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

What Success Looks Like

  • Measurable improvements in line efficiency, uptime, and throughput
  • Reduced downtime and waste across automated production systems
  • Strong collaboration between Engineering, Maintenance, and Production teams
  • CI initiatives that actually stick—no “flavour of the month” projects

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $ 80,000 – 90,000 annually (depending on experience)
  • Bonus: Annual discretionary performance bonus
  • Benefits: Comprehensive health and dental benefits
  • Vacation: Paid vacation annually
  • Additional benefits and perks may be discussed during the recruitment process.
