Structural Steel Fitter

EVALUATION HIRE

$21 - 24 / hr.

Day Shift: 6 am - 4:30 pm Monday - Thursday

 

Express Employment Professionals, a full-service staffing agency, is currently hiring for a Structural Steel Fitter for a local client in Livingston Parish. This role involves layout, fitting, and assembly of structural steel components in a shop environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in structural fabrication, blueprint reading, and precision fitting.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES for Structural Steel Fitter: 

• Accurately lay out, fit, and assemble structural steel components
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding symbols
• Use measuring tools, cutting equipment, and fabrication machinery
• Work closely with welders and fabricators to ensure accurate assembly
• Perform grinding, torch cutting, drilling, and material prep
• Maintain a safe and clean work area while following all company safety protocols

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• Strong blueprint reading and layout skills
• Experience using torches, squares, grinders, and fabrication tools
• Strong understanding of fabrication techniques
• Ability to lift materials and work in a shop environment
• Reliable, detail-oriented, and safety-focused
• Experience working with structural steel
• Familiarity with shop tools (torches, grinders, saws, etc.)
• Experience with structural weld prep and fit-up
• Familiarity with shop fabrication standards and procedures
• Ability to assist with fabrication planning and problem-solving
