A hospital revenue cycle team is seeking a detail-oriented Revenue Cycle Specialist to support the financial processes associated with patient services from registration through final payment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate billing, timely reimbursement, and compliance with healthcare regulations while helping optimize revenue cycle performance within a hospital environment.
This position will begin by supporting a focused auditing project. The team is looking for someone with high-volume accounts receivable experience, strong investigative skills, and the ability to thoroughly review claims and payer activity to identify discrepancies and recovery opportunities. This work will involve frequent communication with insurance companies and internal teams to ensure accuracy and proper reimbursement.
Manage revenue cycle processes including patient registration, charge capture, billing, and collections
Verify patient insurance eligibility, benefits, and prior authorizations
Submit accurate claims to commercial insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid payers
Monitor accounts receivable balances and follow up on outstanding claims
Investigate and resolve denied or rejected claims
Review and audit previous write-offs for accuracy and potential recovery
Process payments, adjustments, and write-offs according to hospital policy
Maintain accurate patient financial records within EMR/EHR systems
Communicate with patients and insurance companies regarding billing questions and payment options
Collaborate with clinical, coding, and finance teams to ensure proper documentation and reimbursement
Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and payer requirements
Support revenue cycle reporting and performance improvement initiatives
Strong organization and time management skills
Ability to work with a sense of urgency in a high-volume environment
Experience managing accounts receivable and payer follow-up
Strong attention to detail and investigative problem-solving ability
Effective communication skills when working with insurance payers and internal teams
Experience working within a hospital or healthcare revenue cycle environment
Knowledge of medical billing processes and insurance reimbursement workflows
Understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer guidelines
Experience working with EMR/EHR systems
Ability to manage multiple accounts and deadlines while maintaining accuracy
Knowledge of HIPAA and healthcare compliance standards
Experience with hospital billing or patient financial services
Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR) or similar certification
Familiarity with ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding standards
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field
