Staff Accountant – Manufacturing Environment (Chicago – Midway Area)

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM Salary: $80,000–$90,000 per year (based on 5–10 years of hands-on accounting experience)

About the Role

This position supports the CFO in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, handling full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, and daily operational accounting tasks. Ideal for someone with strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and experience working with ERF/ERP systems and Sage 100.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.

• Assist with month-end close activities.

• Maintain and review the general ledger; post, review, and adjust journal entries.

• Conduct bank reconciliations and reconcile other financial accounts for accuracy and completeness.

• Perform budgeting and forecasting support; analyze variances between actual and projected results.

• Support internal and external audits by gathering documentation and responding to auditor requests.

• Perform account analysis to identify discrepancies and resolve issues promptly.

• Utilize Sage 100, ERF/ERP systems, and other accounting software to manage financial data.

• Complete inventory reconciliation and support manufacturing-related costing and reporting.

• Match purchase orders to invoices and ensure accuracy in accounts payable workflows.

• Process and manage Accounts Payable transactions.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support financial practices and business objectives.

• Report directly to the CFO; this position has no direct reports.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of hands-on accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and general ledger management.

• Experience with Sage 100 and ERF/ERP systems.

• Strong understanding of inventory processes and reconciliation.

• Experience with purchase order matching and accounts payable.

• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
