Express Employment Professionals is working with a Direct Hire client requiring an experienced Diesel Mechanic in a structural steel operations environment. This role is responsible for maintaining, inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing company-owned diesel trucks and equipment. The ideal candidate will ensure all vehicles are safe, compliant, and operating efficiently while maintaining accurate service records using the Raken app.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance on company trucks and diesel-powered equipment, including:
• Oil and filter changes
• Fluid checks and replacements
• Brake inspections and repairs
• Tire inspections and replacements
• Battery testing and replacement
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues on diesel engines and related systems
• Conduct preventative maintenance to minimize downtime
• Maintain detailed service records and daily reports using the Raken app
• Log inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities accurately and on time
• Ensure all vehicles meet safety and DOT compliance standards
• Safely operate hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop equipment
• Assist field teams with equipment troubleshooting as needed
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
• Communicate repair needs, timelines, and parts requirements to management
• Support shop operations and assist with additional maintenance tasks

Qualifications & Experience

 

• 3–5 years of experience as a Diesel Mechanic (fleet, construction, or steel environment preferred)
• Strong experience with oil changes and preventative maintenance on trucks
• Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and brakes
• Experience using mechanical and diagnostic tools
• Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in a shop environment
• Basic computer and mobile app proficiency (Raken experience a plus)
• Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred, not required)
