Medical Billing Associate / Revenue Cycle Specialist

Pay: $20.00/hour
Location: Ocala, FL
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Billing Associate / Revenue Cycle Specialist to join our healthcare team. This role is responsible for managing the full billing cycle, including insurance claims submission, payment posting, follow-ups, denials, and patient account support. The ideal candidate is a critical thinker who can handle a high-volume workload while maintaining accuracy, compliance, and excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities

Submit insurance claims accurately and in a timely manner
Resolve insurance and clearinghouse rejections and claim errors
Enter and update patient information within EMR systems
Verify insurance coverage and maintain accurate patient accounts
Post and reconcile insurance and patient payments daily
Conduct follow-ups on unpaid, denied, or pending claims
Manage patient accounts receivable and collections
Answer and resolve patient billing inquiries and customer service calls
Apply Sliding Fee Schedule adjustments when applicable
Review and resolve credit balances and issue refunds as needed
Submit claims to state Medicaid systems electronically when possible
Ensure compliance with HIPAA and all federal, state, and payer regulations
Maintain professionalism when interacting with patients, providers, and payers
Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

2–3 years of medical billing experience required
Working knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding
Experience with insurance claims follow-up and collections
Proficiency in insurance and patient payment posting
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage a high-volume workload with attention to detail
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Experience with E-Clinical Works is a plus (training provided)
High school diploma or equivalent required

Physical Requirements

Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use hands for extended periods
Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds
May require reaching, bending, kneeling, crouching, or climbing stairs
Must have adequate vision abilities (close, distance, peripheral, and focus adjustment)
