Warehouse Associate

 

Job Summary:

This labor-intensive position is responsible for hand building rolling carts of product for bulk, and route trucks. This position operates jacks, lifts and forklifts and stages product to be loaded onto trucks delivering wholesale orders to a route/account base in a geographic territory. The Associate effectively manages resources, time and freight. Employees must maintain a clean and safe work environment. Position may be required to work across a wide variety of weather conditions and hours; shift duration depends on workload and may vary daily.

 

Transport truck loading involves moving full carts of products from the warehouse onto a trailer and removing any returned products. Responsible for unloading materials and placing them in designated warehouse space or transferring to available Transport Trailers.

 

Route truck loading involves selecting designated carts of products from the warehouse and loading them into the truck. Product/packages for each truck are customized based on the salespersons order. Position is responsible for unloading returned products, cleaning off return carts, and cleaning out box trucks of ice buildup/trash regularly.

Essential Functions

1. Gathers paperwork indicating what items need to be picked for orders.

2. Accurately matches and picks products on order sheets.

3. Effectively, safely and efficiently secures each order and stages it to be picked up and loaded onto a delivery truck.

4. Moves freight and equipment (e.g. freezers) around warehouse as directed.

5. Cleans/Tests equipment (e.g. freezers) to ensure proper working order, preps for placement.

6. Manages daily work in a safe manner avoiding personal and property damage.

7. Builds and facilitates relationships, acting professionally and efficiently. Maintains good relationships with customers, sales teams, delivery, and route salespeople.

8. Investigates and troubleshoots any issues with product, picking, freight and/or trucks. Reports issues and outcomes to supervisor/manager.

9. Makes recommendations for improvements.

10. Can work in a group or alone; oriented towards the good of the whole. Contain ability to build rapport and good working relationship with co-workers.

11. Monitors products; cleans warehouse/offices.

12. Stays informed; keeps current on knowledge of all products; including new product offerings and product changes.

13. Assists other warehouse associates and employees as needed.

14. Responsible for general housekeeping to ensure warehouse standards are met in a safe and professional manner. This may include sweeping, consolidation of product, facility maintenance, organizing product and other tasks as necessary.

 

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma (GED) 18 years or older.

Experience working in a warehouse environment (e.g., order selector/picking product storage, product staging, powered pallet jack/forklifts, etc.)

Experience working in a team environment (e.g., cooperating with co-workers, joint problem solving, etc.)

 

Job Requirements:

Must have reliable transportation to and from work. Must be able to work in a cold environment of -20 degrees.

 

Knowledge and Skills:

Ability to operate warehouse equipment, including, but not limited to, reach trucks, electric pallet jacks, forklifts and hand-trucks.

Ability to use handheld computer technology.

Strong professional and proven written, verbal and interpersonal English communication skills.

Must be able to read English.

Bi-Lingual a plus.

Must be organized and accurate.

Ability to assess whether an order is complete by looking at numerous pallets.

Ability to meet picking accuracy and service schedules.

Must have strong multi-tasking and follow-through skills.

Must be able to follow multiple directions.

Proven ability to accurately meet deadlines under pressure.

Must be a team player.

Must work well unsupervised and be self-motivated.
