Position Summary:

We are seeking a dependable and skilled Temporary Facilities Technician to support the installation, maintenance, and repair of critical infrastructure across our laboratory facility. This role is vital in ensuring seamless operations and a safe, functional environment. As a key member of the Facilities Team, you will assist with daily upkeep and project support across multiple building systems and lab operations.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Assist the Facilities and Operations Manager with daily operations across critical facility systems including HVAC (fresh air and recirculating), electrical, plumbing, fire and security systems, ventilation, and laboratory equipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety standards across lab spaces, offices, conference rooms, and exterior grounds including parking areas.
  • Perform routine maintenance and conduct repairs as needed on facility infrastructure and equipment.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and oversee routine inspections and emergency repair visits by authorized external vendors.
  • Prepare the facility for changing weather conditions, including shutdowns and reactivations tied to weather events.
  • Respond promptly to health, safety, and facilities-related concerns.
  • Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance (PMs) of building systems.
  • Interpret manuals and schematics to properly troubleshoot and service lab equipment.

 

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent on-the-job experience in facilities or maintenance roles

 

Experience:

  • 3+ years in a manufacturing environment as a production scheduler or similar position
  • Experience using a manufacturing-based ERP and/or LIMS system

 

Qualifications:

  • Technical training or equivalent on-the-job experience in facilities or maintenance roles.
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, or instrumentation aptitude.
  • Experience with hand tools, diagnostic equipment (e.g., Digital Voltmeter), and basic building systems.
  • Familiarity with HVAC systems is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret technical documents and follow safety standards.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office programs including Word and Excel.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic production environment.
