Pay: $25+ DOE

 

Schedule: Day shift- Hours may vary depending on the job

 

A Hardscape Paver Installer is a skilled professional responsible for constructing non-living, structural outdoor elements such as patios, walkways, driveways, and retaining walls. They transform outdoor spaces by precisely laying stones, bricks, or concrete segmental units to create durable and aesthetically pleasing surfaces.

Key Responsibilities

 

Core Responsibilities

• Site Preparation: Excavate, grade, and level ground to ensure proper drainage and a stable base.
• Base Installation: Lay and compact layers of gravel and bedding sand to prevent future shifting or sinking.
• Material Placement: Lay pavers, bricks, or natural stones in specific patterns (e.g., herringbone, basketweave) according to design blueprints.
• Cutting and Shaping: Use masonry saws, splitters, or grinders to trim materials for curves, corners, and edges.
• Finishing: Apply edge restraints, sweep joint sand into gaps, and use a plate compactor to lock pavers into place.
• Maintenance & Repair: Perform "lift and relay" work to fix settled areas, power wash surfaces, and apply protective sealants. 

 

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy materials (frequently 50–80 lbs.) and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Technical Proficiency: Skill in operating heavy machinery such as skid steers, mini-excavators, and plate compactors.
• Precision & Math: Ability to read blueprints, set elevations using laser levels, and calculate material quantities.

 

Typical Work Environment

• Setting: Residential backyards, commercial plazas, and public parks.
• Schedule: Full-time, often involving 8–10-hour shifts and seasonal overtime.
