Position Summary

The Skilled Trades Employment Specialist is responsible for developing and managing a dedicated Skilled Trades desk through proactive recruiting and strategic sales efforts. This role focuses on building long-term relationships with clients and skilled candidates while maintaining a consistent pipeline of qualified talent. Unlike a high-volume Light Industrial desk, this position emphasizes targeted outreach, consultative selling, and quality placements within the Skilled Trades sector.

Responsability 

  • Spend approximately 30–40% of time proactively recruiting skilled trades professionals through sourcing, networking, and relationship building

  • Dedicate 30–40% of time to business development and sales, including client calls, job order development, and account growth

  • Conduct candidate interviews, skill assessments, and qualification screenings

  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships through consistent communication and service

  • Open, manage, and fill Skilled Trades job orders with a focus on quality and retention

  • Maintain accurate documentation and activity tracking in company systems

  • Perform follow-up calls, retention check-ins, and quality control with clients and associates

  • Collaborate with internal team members to support recruiting strategies and business growth

  • Stay informed on Skilled Trades market trends, pay rates, and workforce needs

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience in recruiting, staffing, sales, or workforce development preferred

  • Strong phone presence with confidence in proactive outreach and consultative selling

  • Interest in or exposure to Skilled Trades (construction, electrical, mechanical, welding, manufacturing trades, etc.)

  • Ability to work independently and manage a dedicated desk

  • Excellent communication, organization, and time-management skills

  • Proficiency with basic computer systems, applicant tracking systems, and CRM tools

Preferred Experience

  • Staffing industry or employment specialist experience

  • Background working with Skilled Trades or technical roles

  • Proven success in proactive recruiting or business development

Work Environment & Expectations

  • Activity is primarily proactive rather than reactive

  • Focus on relationship building and long-term placements

  • Pace is more strategic and consultative compared to high-volume Light Industrial recruiting

  • Requires consistent phone work, sourcing efforts, and client engagement
