YARD ASSOCIATE

Overview: We are seeking a hardworking and dependable individual to join our team. The primary responsibility of this role is to assist in the day-to-day operations of the lumber/warehouse yard, including loading and unloading materials, organizing inventory, maintaining a clean and safe work environment, and providing excellent customer service to clients. The ideal candidate will be physically capable, detail-oriented, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

1. Material Handling: Load and unload building materials from trucks using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment as needed. Ensure proper handling and storage of materials to prevent damage.
2. Inventory Management: Organize and maintain inventory in the yard, including stacking and sorting lumber according to size, type, and grade. Perform regular inventory counts and assist with restocking as necessary.
3. Quality Control: Inspect materials for defects, damage, or irregularities before loading or unloading. Report any issues to supervisors and assist in resolving quality-related issues.
4. Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe work environment. Operate equipment safely and responsibly, and participate in regular safety training sessions.
5. Customer Service: Assist customers with loading and unloading materials, provide product information, and address any questions or concerns in a courteous and professional manner. Ensure customer satisfaction by delivering excellent service at all times.
6. General Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks in the lumber yard, such as cleaning work areas, sweeping floors, and organizing tools and equipment. Report any maintenance or repair needs to supervisors promptly.

Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with team members to complete tasks efficiently and effectively. Communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors to coordinate workflow and prioritize tasks.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience in a similar role, such as warehouse work or construction, is advantageous.
• Ability to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to accurately follow instructions.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Physical strength and stamina to lift heavy objects and perform manual labor in various weather conditions.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds frequently and occasionally lift objects weighing up to 100 pounds with assistance.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and climb for extended periods.
• Comfort working outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow.
