Role Summary
The Production Mechanic is responsible for the safe and precise assembly of high-quality products. This role requires following strict company procedures to ensure all units are built to specification on a timely basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Precision Assembly: Build complex units using a variety of hand and power tools, including wrenches, drills, cutters, and pneumatic/vibratory equipment.
- Technical Compliance: Follow blueprints, engineering drawings, and standard work instructions to meet exact production standards.
- Torque Operations: Manually operate torque tools to specific requirements (reaching at least 250 Newton meters / 185 foot-pounds).
- Process Documentation: Utilize computer systems for production transactions and contribute to safety and efficiency by writing continuous improvement cards.
Qualifications
Required:
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a mechanic/assembly field OR a degree/certification from a technical/trade school in a mechanical or manufacturing field.
- Blueprint Reading: Demonstrated ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and prints.
Preferred (Desired):
- Expertise in heavy assembly and hydraulic systems.
- Experience operating heavy crane equipment.
- Proficiency with metric units and electrical components.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
This is a physically intensive role. Candidates must be capable of performing the following:
- Mobility: Climb equipment/ladders and work at multiple heights or in tight spaces.
- Physical Strength: Lift up to 35 lbs frequently and pull manual torque tools to high requirements.
- Posture: Work in awkward positions (overhead reaching, twisting, lateral reach) and perform kneeling, squatting, or crawling.
- Stamina: Stand for a minimum of 8 hours with minimal breaks in an environment with changing temperatures.
- Fine Motor Skills: Frequent repetitive grasping, pushing, pulling, and rotating.
- Medical Note: This environment includes exposure to magnets, which may impact certain medical devices.
Safety & PPE Requirements
Safety is non-negotiable. The following Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required at all times:
- Steel-toed/Metatarsal footwear (Required)
- Hearing Protection
- Safety Glasses
- Dust Masks (As needed)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
Experience:
- Production Mechanic: 2 years (Preferred)
- Mechanical Knowledge: 2 years (Preferred)
