Weld Team Lead / Senior Welder
Location: Kansas City Metro
Pay: $25.00 – $35.00 per hour
Schedule: Full-time | Shift aligned with existing production schedule

Position Overview
A growing fabrication and manufacturing operation is seeking an experienced Weld Team Lead / Senior Welder to support increasing welding demand. This role will primarily focus on steel welding while also helping guide and support a small welding team.
The ideal candidate is a highly experienced welder who can lead by example, ensuring work quality while helping train and direct other welders on the floor.
This is a working lead role, meaning the individual will spend most of their time welding while also assisting with oversight of the welding team.
Key Responsibilities

Perform high-quality welding primarily on steel materials

Assist with welding of stainless steel and aluminum when required (preferred but not required)

Lead by example as a working team lead on the welding floor

Help train and mentor junior welders

Assist in directing daily welding tasks and workflow
-
Ensure welding work meets quality, safety, and production standards

Monitor work performed by team members and provide guidance when needed
-
Collaborate with production and operations teams to maintain efficient workflow
-
Maintain welding equipment and follow all safety procedures
-
Support continuous improvement in welding processes and production efficiency
Leadership Responsibilities

Provide oversight and support to 1–2 welders initially, with potential growth to a larger team

Ensure team members are following welding procedures and maintaining quality standards

Assist with training new hires and developing welding skills within the team
-
Help maintain productivity and accountability on the shop floor
Qualifications
-
Strong welding experience required, primarily with steel
-
Experience welding stainless steel or aluminum is a plus
-
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings
-
Experience using common welding processes (MIG preferred; others a plus)
-
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
-
Leadership experience or the ability to mentor and guide other welders
-
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
-
Good communication and problem-solving skills
Preferred Experience

Previous team lead, foreman, or supervisory experience in welding
-
Experience overseeing small teams in a fabrication or manufacturing environment
-
Ability to assist in developing and training newer welders
Physical Requirements

Ability to stand and work for extended periods
-
Ability to lift and move materials as required in a fabrication environment
-
Ability to work in a manufacturing shop environment with welding equipment
