Overview
Our client, a leading defense manufacturer and technology partner, is seeking a skilled Project Manager to oversee complex government and military programs. This individual will be responsible for driving project execution, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders across engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, and customer organizations. The ideal candidate thrives in a highly regulated environment, excels at cross-functional coordination, and brings a strategic mindset to program delivery.

 

This is a direct hire role here onsite in Rock Hill SC.

Responsibilities

Program Leadership & Execution

  • Lead all phases of assigned defense programs, including planning, execution, monitoring, and closeout.
  • Translate program requirements into actionable plans, ensuring alignment with technical, schedule, and financial objectives.
  • Maintain complete project oversight, proactively identifying issues and driving solutions.

Planning, Documentation & Reporting

  • Develop and manage project artifacts such as schedules, budgets, work breakdown structures, communication plans, and compliance documentation.
  • Provide clear, accurate program updates through status reports, executive briefings, and customer reviews.
  • Track performance metrics and implement corrective actions where needed.

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Work closely with engineering, operations, supply chain, procurement, logistics, and quality teams to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Coordinate production schedules, material needs, and technical deliverables across internal and external stakeholders.

Customer & Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for government agencies, subcontractors, vendors, and internal leadership.
  • Build strong customer relationships and ensure expectations are clearly defined, understood, and met.
  • Support business development activities by identifying follow-on work and new opportunities.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure all project activity follows defense industry requirements, including ITAR, FAR, DFARS, and contract-specific standards.
  • Maintain active risk and issue logs, leading mitigation planning and ensuring accurate documentation.
  • Oversee subcontractor performance, ensuring contractual obligations and delivery milestones are met.

Qualifications 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of five years of project management experience; defense, aerospace, or government industry experience is a plus but not required.
  • Proven ability to lead and coordinate multiple complex, technical projects involving diverse stakeholders and stringent requirements.
  • Strong understanding of project management frameworks, tools, and industry best practices.
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing project budgets, schedules, and resource planning.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication abilities, with a track record of effectively engaging customers and managing stakeholder expectations.
