About the Opportunity
This position is offered through Express Employment Professionals in the St. Louis area. You will be employed through Express while working at one of our respected local client companies. This grain mill role is intense, physical, and extremely dirty—perfect for someone who wants consistent hours, strong pay, and a long-term union path. Your first 90 days will be focused entirely on cleaning tasks before being eligible for permanent hire and entry into the Bakers Union.

What You’ll Do
  • Perform heavy, labor-intensive cleaning for the first 3 months
  • Shovel dust and wheat residue into barrels for extended periods
  • Use air pumps to blow down machinery and equipment
  • Work in a very dusty, dirty, hot/cold non–climate-controlled mill
  • Wear a respirator and required PPE at all times
  • Support production operations after the initial 90-day cleaning period
What You’ll Bring
  • Ability to handle heavy physical labor daily
  • Reliability and strong attendance (strict requirement)
  • Willingness to work in extremely dirty, dusty, and hot/cold conditions
  • Ability to wear and work in a respirator for long periods
  • Comfort with overtime (up to ~56 hours per week)
  • STB (steel toes) required from the walkthrough onward
  • Willingness to join the Bakers Union after permanent hire

Schedule & Pay
  • Earn up to $22.26/hr
  • Rotating 9-week cycle:
    • 3 weeks: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
    • 3 weeks: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
    • 3 weeks: 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM
  • Expect heavy overtime (approx. 56 hours/week)
  • Temp-to-hire with union opportunity after 90 days
