Overview:

Express Employment Professionals has partnered with a locally owned hardware and home improvement retailer in the Yuba-Sutter area to hire a dependable and customer-focused Retail Counterperson.

This position plays a key role in assisting customers with hardware, tools, paint, plumbing, electrical supplies, and general home improvement products. The ideal candidate enjoys working with the public, provides strong customer service, and takes pride in maintaining an organized and welcoming retail environment.

The schedule is Friday through Tuesday, with Wednesday and Thursday as set days off, and has the potential to increase to a full 40-hour work week based on business needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Greet customers and provide friendly, knowledgeable assistance

• Help customers locate hardware, tools, paint, plumbing, and electrical supplies

• Process sales transactions accurately using a POS system

• Stock shelves and maintain clean, organized displays

• Assist with receiving and unloading merchandise

• Support inventory organization and restocking efforts

• Maintain a clean and safe retail environment

Qualifications:

• Previous retail or customer service experience preferred

• Basic knowledge of hardware, tools, or home improvement supplies is a plus

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Comfortable working in a fast-paced retail setting

• Reliable and punctual

• Ability to consistently work the Friday–Tuesday schedule

• Ability to stand for extended periods

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

• Ability to stock shelves and move merchandise throughout the store

Compensation & Benefits:

• $16.50 – $19.00 per hour depending on experience
