Job Title: Staking Technician
Location: Newport, TN
Schedule: 1st Shift | Monday – Friday
Pay: $25.00+ per hour (based on experience)

Job Summary:
A utilities company in Newport, TN is seeking an experienced Staking Technician to join their team. This position is responsible for mapping, designing, and staking electrical power lines for new construction and upgrades to existing utility systems. The ideal candidate will have experience reading and creating utility maps, coordinating with field crews, and ensuring projects are completed safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

• Map and stake locations for new electrical power lines and system upgrades

• Design layouts for utility line extensions and improvements

• Interpret and create utility maps, drawings, and staking sheets

• Coordinate with construction crews, engineers, and project managers

• Conduct site visits to evaluate terrain, right-of-way, and installation requirements

• Ensure all projects meet safety standards and company specifications

• Maintain accurate documentation of projects and designs

Requirements:

• Experience mapping and staking electrical power lines

• Knowledge of utility construction practices and right-of-way requirements

• Ability to read and interpret maps, blueprints, and technical drawings

• Strong organizational and communication skills

• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

• Must live within 30 minutes of Newport, TN

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience working with a utility company or electric cooperative

• Familiarity with GIS mapping or utility design software

• Field experience with electric distribution systems
