Position Summary

 

The Leasing Assistant supports the leasing and property management team in all aspects of the leasing process for residential properties managed by our client. This position serves as a primary point of contact for prospective and current residents, ensuring a positive experience from initial inquiry through move-in. The ideal candidate is personable, organized, and passionate about customer service in a fast-paced property management environment.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist prospective residents in person, by phone, and via email in a professional and welcoming manner.
  • Conduct property tours and showcase available units, highlighting features and community amenities.
  • Process rental applications, including verification of income, rental history, and credit/background checks.
  • Prepare and execute lease agreements and associated addendums in compliance with Maryland landlord-tenant law.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all leads, applications, and lease activity in the property management software.
  • Follow up with prospective residents to convert leads into signed leases.
  • Coordinate move-in and move-out processes, including unit inspections and key distribution.
  • Assist with lease renewals and respond to current resident inquiries and concerns in a timely manner.
  • Maintain knowledge of current market conditions, competitive properties, and occupancy goals.
  • Support the Property Manager with administrative tasks including filing, reporting, and correspondence.
  • Ensure the leasing office, model units, and common areas are clean, organized, and professionally presented.
  • Assist with planning and executing resident retention events and community outreach initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Communications, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in leasing, property management, sales, or customer service.
  • Experience with property management software (e.g., Yardi, AppFolio, or similar) preferred.
  • Knowledge of Maryland landlord-tenant laws and Fair Housing regulations preferred.
