Position: Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Manager – PE Required Location: Tampa Bay Area, FL
A growing engineering and consulting firm is seeking a Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Manager with a Professional Engineer (PE) license to lead and expand its materials testing operations. This individual will play a key role in building out the laboratory, managing CMT projects, and supporting quality assurance for transportation and infrastructure work.
This position is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys both technical oversight and operational leadership, with the opportunity to help grow and develop a materials testing division.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage Construction Materials Testing (CMT) projects for infrastructure and transportation work
Oversee and assist with the development and build-out of a materials testing laboratory
Provide engineering review and oversight for testing results and reports
Ensure testing procedures comply with DOT, AASHTO, ASTM, and industry standards
Supervise and mentor field and laboratory technicians
Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and clients to ensure quality and compliance
Review and sign off on technical reports and project documentation
Support business growth initiatives related to CMT services and laboratory capabilities
Maintain strong quality control and safety standards across all testing operations
Qualifications:
Professional Engineer (PE) license required
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
Experience in Construction Materials Testing and laboratory operations
Knowledge of DOT standards, AASHTO, and ASTM testing procedures
Experience managing CMT projects and technical staff
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
Experience developing or expanding laboratory operations is highly preferred
Compensation: Salary will be $95K/yr. + based on DOT salary ranges and experience.
