Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing advanced industrial maintenance, facility repairs, and equipment troubleshooting to support daily plant operations. This role focuses on HVAC repair, electrical maintenance, mechanical systems, PLC troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance for building infrastructure, utilities, and production equipment. The technician ensures a safe, efficient, and compliant work environment by following maintenance procedures, safety protocols, and food-safety standards. Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills are essential.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform HVAC, plumbing, electrical, PLC, and mechanical repairs as needed.

  • Use e-maintenance software to manage work orders, preventive maintenance schedules, parts ordering, and equipment history.

  • Implement preventive and predictive maintenance procedures to maximize equipment uptime and reliability.

  • Maintain inventory of tools, repair parts, and maintenance supplies.

  • Keep maintenance areas clean, organized, and compliant with food-safety and facility standards.

  • Conduct facility and equipment inspections with the Maintenance Manager or Maintenance Lead.

  • Respond quickly to equipment failures and emergencies; follow all safety protocols.

  • Recommend improvements for hygienic equipment design, waste reduction, and safety enhancements.

  • Clean and maintain tools in a Lean, organized manner.

  • Assist with special projects and collaborate with the maintenance team.

  • Perform additional maintenance duties as assigned.

 

Skills & Competencies

Technical Skills

  • Ability to read and follow procedures, policies, and technical documentation.

  • Strong troubleshooting and complex problem-solving abilities.

  • Knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical systems, plumbing, and mechanical equipment.

  • Familiarity with PLCs, industrial equipment, and maintenance databases.

  • Ability to operate forklifts and lifts as needed.

  • EPA Certification required.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Required Education & Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of maintenance experience in a production or manufacturing environment.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Training or certification in HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, or a related field.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Experience with PLC systems and e-maintenance software.

 

Work Environment & Job Hazards

  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts.

  • Wet and humid conditions (non-weather).

  • Exposure to sanitation chemicals.

  • Extreme cold and heat (non-weather).

  • Occasional outdoor work with exposure to weather elements.

  • Occasional exposure to fumes, chemicals, and airborne particles.

  • Potential exposure to electrical hazards.

 

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Frequent standing, walking, stooping, crawling, and kneeling.

  • Regular use of hands for handling tools and equipment.

  • Frequent reaching, climbing, and balancing.

  • Ability to work at heights or in elevated areas.

  • Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
