Position Overview

The Buyer is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing materials, components, and services required to support manufacturing operations. This role ensures materials are delivered on time, at competitive costs, and at the quality needed to meet production schedules. The Buyer collaborates closely with suppliers, production teams, engineering, quality, and finance.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement & Supplier Management

• Source, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, delivery, and capacity.
• Issue purchase orders (POs) and manage order confirmations, pricing, and delivery schedules.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts to reduce cost and improve reliability.
• Monitor supplier performance and resolve delivery or quality issues.
• Maintain strong relationships with local, regional, and international suppliers.

Inventory & Material Planning

• Ensure materials are available to support the production schedule while maintaining optimal inventory levels.
• Collaborate with planning and production teams to forecast material needs.
• Track and manage lead times, safety stock, and usage trends.
• Coordinate with warehouse and logistics teams on receiving, returns, and discrepancies.

Cost Control & Process Improvement

• Identify cost-saving opportunities through supplier consolidation, alternative materials, or process improvements.
• Support new product introductions with timely sourcing of components.
• Maintain accurate procurement records, pricing lists, and documentation.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives across the supply chain.

Compliance & Systems

• Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and industry regulations.
• Use ERP/MRP systems for purchasing, inventory tracking, and reporting.
• Maintain data accuracy within ERP systems, including item details, lead times, and pricing.
