Position Overview

We are seeking a Junior Project Engineer to support customer programs from RFQ and quotation through prototype development and production launch.

In this role, you will work at the intersection of engineering, customer communication, and project coordination, helping ensure that new programs move efficiently from concept to manufacturing. You will collaborate with internal engineering and production teams while interacting directly with customers and suppliers.

This position is well suited for an early-career engineer interested in developing strong project management and customer-facing technical skills within a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the RFQ and quotation process by reviewing customer drawings, technical specifications, and production requirements.
    • Work with engineering and production teams to evaluate feasibility and manufacturing considerations for new customer programs.
    • Coordinate with suppliers to source outsourced processes or materials required for projects.
    • Prepare technical and commercial quotations for customer programs.
    • Participate in new program launches, including project kick-off meetings and prototype coordination.
    • Ensure the successful transition of projects from quotation and planning into full production.
    • Communicate with customers to clarify technical requirements and provide updates on project progress.
    • Maintain project documentation including drawings, specifications, timelines, and internal coordination notes.
    • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to resolve issues and keep projects on schedule.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related discipline.
1–3 years of experience in a manufacturing, engineering, or project coordination role (co-op or internship experience may be considered).
    • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
    • Exposure to metal fabrication, steel processing, or automotive manufacturing is an asset.
    • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and production environments.
    • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office tools.
    • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
    • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Familiarity with North American steel standards.
    • Experience working with RFQs, quotations, or supplier coordination.
    • Exposure to automotive Tier 1 / Tier 2 manufacturing environments.
    • Experience supporting new product introduction (NPI) or program launches.

  • Exposure to steel manufacturing and metal processing operations.
  • Opportunities to work with engineering, production, suppliers, and customers across the full project lifecycle.
  • Practical experience in RFQs, cost estimation, and supplier coordination.
  • Mentorship and insight from senior leadership and decision-makers within the organization.

Compensation: $70,000 – $80,000 annually, depending on experience.
