CNC Lathe Setup Technician – 2nd Shift
Location: Mt. Prospect, IL
Pay: Up to $26/hour DOE
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM (Overtime/Weekends as needed)

A growing manufacturing company in Mt. Prospect is looking for a CNC Lathe Setup Technician to join their 2nd shift team. This role is ideal for someone with CNC setup experience who enjoys working with precision parts and wants to be part of a team focused on quality and performance.

Responsibilities:

• Set up CNC lathes for new and repeat production jobs (install tooling, set offsets, load programs)
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T requirements
• Perform first-article and in-process inspections using precision measuring tools
• Select and inspect cutting tools, inserts, and workholding equipment
• Troubleshoot machining issues such as tool wear, chatter, or dimensional errors
• Set up chucks, collets, soft jaws, and other workholding devices
• Maintain setup sheets, tooling lists, and production documentation
• Work closely with machinists, engineers, and quality teams to resolve issues

Qualifications:

• 1–3 years of CNC lathe setup or machining experience
• Ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T
• Experience using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, dial indicators, and similar tools
• Familiarity with CNC controls such as Fanuc, Haas, or Okuma
• Basic understanding of G-code and CNC program adjustments
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail

Preferred:

• Technical training or certification in CNC machining or manufacturing
• Experience in ISO 9001 or quality-driven manufacturing environments
