Field Inspection Role | Infrastructure & Development Projects 

Location: Lihue, Kauai
Pay: $57,200 – $88,400 per year (DOE)
Schedule: Full-Time | Day Shift

A well-established construction and engineering organization in Hawaiʻi is seeking a Construction Inspector to support active job sites by verifying that construction work meets project specifications, building codes, and quality standards. This role plays a key part in protecting project integrity by monitoring field work, documenting progress, and ensuring contractors follow approved plans and requirements.

You’ll work closely with project engineers, contractors, and field teams, helping ensure projects are built safely, accurately, and in compliance with project specifications. This is an excellent opportunity for a construction professional who enjoys hands-on field work, reading plans, and maintaining quality standards on major development projects.

Your Contribution & Impact

Field Inspections:
Conduct on-site inspections to verify construction work meets project specifications, building codes, and quality requirements.

Compliance Monitoring:
Ensure contractors follow approved plans, schedules, permits, and project documentation.

Construction Observation:
Monitor daily construction activities and assist with testing or verification of construction work when required.

Plan & Specification Review:
Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents to confirm work is performed correctly.

Coordination with Project Teams:
Work closely with project managers, engineers, and contractors to communicate inspection results and address issues.

Reporting & Documentation:
Prepare inspection reports and maintain accurate documentation using digital reporting systems and field technology.


Attributes for Success

  • High School Diploma required (Bachelor’s degree preferred)

  • 5–10 years of construction or inspection experience preferred

  • ICC, ACI, or similar inspection certifications preferred (required for special inspections)

  • Strong understanding of construction methods, building systems, and building codes

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, Adobe)

  • Comfortable using tablets, digital cameras, and electronic reporting systems

  • Strong communication and documentation skills

  • Able to work independently and collaboratively with project teams

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

  • Comfortable working outdoors on active job sites in varying weather conditions
