About the Role

We are seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist who thrives in a quiet, focused environment and takes full ownership of their work. This is a newly created position on a small, easygoing accounting team. The ideal candidate brings strong accounts payable and bookkeeping experience, works independently, and can hit the ground running with minimal training.

Experience with Sage is highly required. Prior work experience within the construction industry is preferred. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys structured accounting work, problem‑solving, and managing AP processes from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process high‑volume accounts payable invoices accurately and on schedule.
  • Review, match, and code invoices to the correct GL accounts within Sage.
  • Maintain vendor files, W‑9s, and payment records with strong bookkeeping accuracy.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies using independent research before escalating questions.
  • Prepare weekly check runs, ACH payments, and credit card reconciliations.
  • Monitor AP aging and ensure timely payments to vendors and subcontractors.
  • Assist with month‑end close tasks related to AP and general accounting support.
  • Communicate professionally with vendors and internal teams while maintaining a low‑disruption workflow.
  • Identify process gaps and recommend improvements to AP workflows.
  • Take full ownership of assigned tasks and manage workload with minimal supervision.
  • Other duties as assigned

What We’re Looking For

  • 2+ years of experience as an accounts payable specialist, bookkeeper, or related accounting role required
  • Working knowledge of Sage required
  • Construction industry experience is a plus but not required.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in bookkeeping and invoice processing.
  • Ability to work independently in a quiet, heads‑down environment.
  • Resourceful problem‑solver who exhausts available tools before seeking assistance.
