Loss Prevention Officer (Retail) – Graveyard

Location: Medford, OR
Pay Range: $19.00–$26.56 per hour (based on transferable experience)
Shift: Graveyard (includes shift premiums)

Express Employment is  currently recruiting for an experienced Retail Loss Prevention Officer to join our team in Medford. This is not a traditional security position. We are specifically looking for candidates with hands-on retail Loss Prevention experience who are comfortable conducting investigations, detaining suspects, and operating within retail LP policies and DPSST regulations.

Due to the specialized nature of this role, we are prioritizing candidates with direct retail Loss Prevention backgrounds. Applicants coming solely from traditional security, military, or law enforcement roles may find that retail LP policies and procedures differ significantly from prior training and experience.

What You’ll Do:

• Conduct undercover and overt surveillance in a retail environment
• Identify, investigate, and apprehend shoplifting suspects
• Perform lawful detainments in accordance with DPSST regulations and company policy
• Write detailed incident and case reports
• Work closely with store leadership and law enforcement when appropriate
• Support shrink reduction and safety initiatives

What We’re Looking For:

• Proven experience in retail Loss Prevention (required)
• Comfortable and trained in conducting detainments, including going hands-on when necessary and compliant with DPSST guidelines
• Strong report writing and documentation skills
• Ability to work independently on graveyard shift
• DPSST certification preferred
• Guard card preferred
• Security experience may be partially transferable, but must demonstrate relevance to retail LP functions

Pay & Advancement Structure:

• Starting pay: $19.00–$26.56 per hour, depending on transferable experience
• Approximately $1.00 increase every three months until reaching Journeyman level
• Once Journeyman is achieved, $1.00 increases annually
• If starting at Apprentice Level 1 with no direct experience, average time to Journeyman is approximately 15 months
• Candidates with transferable retail LP experience may start at a higher Apprentice level

Additional Pay Premiums:

• $1.00 per hour premium for all hours worked between 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• $1.00 per hour premium for all Sunday shifts
