Warehouse Material Handler/Forklift Operator

 

Summary:

This position is responsible for warehouse fulfillment tasks, including loading, unloading, moving, stacking, staging, and counting products and materials using a forklift, clamp truck, or other powered equipment. Utilizes radio frequency (RF) devices to perform and communicate operational activities efficiently. Ensures that every step is carried out with precision, care, and adherence to quality and safety protocols.

Work Hours:
This position follows a regular schedule of Monday through Wednesday, 4:45PM to 6:45AM, with a one-hour lunch break. Additional work on Thursdays may be required.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Handle and package materials according to instructions.
• Conduct pre-shift inspections of forklifts and other equipment as required.
• Safely load, unload, move, stack, and stage products and materials using forklifts or other powered equipment.
• Receive inbound shipments and transport products to designated storage areas.
• Help maintain the cleanliness and organization of the warehouse and pallet racking systems.
• Properly stack and store merchandise in assigned locations for efficient access.
• Verify accuracy and condition of inbound and outbound shipments, reporting any damage or discrepancies.
• Identify and report quality issues or variances.
• Pull and prepare products for shipment, ensuring correct quantities and item types are selected.
• Move products from storage or staging areas into trailers efficiently and accurately.
• Use RF equipment for picking, receiving, putting away, and loading tasks as needed.
• Operate all equipment safely and in accordance with standard operating procedures.
• Maintain accurate records and reports to support inventory control and product security.
• Participate in physical inventory counts as required.
• Rotate stock appropriately to ensure first-in, first-out (FIFO) practices.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and well-functioning warehouse, including work areas, equipment, and pallet racking systems.
• Employees must wear safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety-toed shoes at all times while on the production floor, in accordance with company safety policies and OSHA regulations
• Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed

 

Qualifications and Requirements:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for success in this role.


Education and Experience:
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Minimum of one year of experience operating forklifts (5,000–10,000 lbs), including loading and unloading trucks, as well as handling and packaging materials.
• Experience in a manufacturing or production environment a plus.
• Basic computer skills required for data entry and documentation


Language Skills:
• Ability to read and understand job orders, safety procedures, and written instructions in English
• Ability to communicate effectively in one-on-one and small group settings


Mathematical Skills:
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals
• Proficiency in calculating rates, ratios, and percentages


Reasoning Ability:
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Ability to interpret and follow instructions in various forms, including written, verbal, diagrams, and schedules


Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for extended periods. The role involves frequent use of hands to finger, handle, feel, and reach. The employee is often required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and must be able to safely climb and maintain balance.
This position requires the ability to regularly lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move heavier items up to 75 pounds from ground level.
Specific vision abilities required include peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.


Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and loud noise levels, requiring the use of hearing protection. The production area is not climate controlled, and employees may be exposed to varying environmental conditions including heat, cold, and humidity.
