Express Employment Professionals is currently seeking an experienced Purchasing Agent to support a busy structural steel fabrication facility in Waco. This role is critical to ensuring smooth operations by sourcing competitive quotes, managing purchase orders, and coordinating timely material deliveries to meet project deadlines.

Source and obtain competitive quotes from steel, materials, and supply vendors
Create, issue, and manage purchase orders with accuracy and timeliness
Track and expedite material deliveries to ensure alignment with fabrication schedules
Coordinate with project managers, estimators, and production teams regarding material needs
Monitor inventory levels and anticipate procurement requirements
Negotiate pricing and terms to maximize cost efficiency
Resolve discrepancies related to pricing, quantities, or shipments
Maintain detailed purchasing records and vendor files
Previous experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain (manufacturing preferred)
Experience in structural steel, fabrication, or construction environments is highly preferred
Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
High School Diploma required; additional education in business or supply chain is a plus
Sense of urgency and strong follow-through
Ability to communicate clearly across departments
Strong problem-solving skills
Comfortable working in a production-driven environment
Proactive in identifying cost savings and process improvements
